U.S Senate Democratic candidate holds rally in St. Joseph

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Lucas Kunce continued his campaign trail Monday with a rally at the Trail Theatre in St. Joseph.
Missourians will see several names on the Nov. 5 ballot for U.S. Senate. Kunce, a Jefferson City native is going up against Republican incumbent Josh Hawley, as well as Better Party candidate Jared Young, Green Party candidate Nathan Kline and Libertarian Party candidate W.C. Young.
Kunce said before the rally that he was excited to come back to St. Joseph and share more about himself with the community.
“I love St. Joe. It’s got that old-timey feel, it’s a river town, you know, I grew up in Jeff City, and it feels kinda the same, honestly,” Kunce said. “I always feel like home when I’m coming back here.”
Kunce spoke about his upbringing and his family’s financial hardships as he grew up, crediting his local community for helping them stay afloat.
“I spent my life trying to pay that back,” Kunce said. “I was a U.S. Marine, I deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan twice, and now we’re doing this, man, because we gotta fundamentally change who has power in this country and invest in Missouri again.”
Kunce said his No. 1 priority if elected is bringing money back to Missouri.
Hawley said in a previous interview that several of his main goals, if reelected, would be closing the border, getting jobs back in the country and protecting law enforcement.
