Chiefs fans hopeful training camp will stay at MWSU

This year’s Chiefs Training Camp is in its final days, and there have been questions about whether or not camp will continue to be hosted at Missouri Western State University, but many fans are keeping their fingers crossed that the team will be back for another year.
Since 2010, Chiefs players have begun their official practice for the season at Missouri Western, attracting crowds of fans to St. Joseph. Susie Boyer, who lives in Savannah, Missouri, has been a Chiefs fan since she was a little girl.
“I got to go with my grandfather for the first Super Bowl,” Boyer said.
Boyer said she’s been coming to training camp for “forever.”
“I’ve been coming for forever, we even start up at River Falls when they had training camp up there, so it’s been a long, long time,” Boyer said.
The Chiefs have been attending training camp at Missouri Western for 14 years now, and fans say they can’t see it going anywhere else.
“I’d like for them to come back because Coach Reid likes it here and they get to be a commodity to each other,” Boyer said. “They’re in a dorm, they get to get together, do things together. They don’t hurry home.”
Vivienne Lisson is a young fan who said she’s supported the Chiefs her whole life and has attended a few training camps. She hopes the Chiefs come back to St. Joseph.
“They do it every year and it’s something fun for all of the fans to watch,” Lisson said.
Poppy Erdmann is also a young fan who wants to see the team return.
“They also come here and it’s kind of a tradition,” Erdmann said.
