Wildkats oust Lady Knights in districts

King City girls basketball is headed to the Class 1 District 15 semifinals with a 19-point victory over Kansas City Lutheran on Tuesday.
Ball movement and working the basketball inside and out made King City's offense a real chore for the Lutheran defense. Most possessions in the half court where the Wildkats found success came using multiple sides, moving the ball across the perimeter against the zone defense of the Lady Knights until a basket could be had in close.
Wildkat senior Clare Staley made a living with those opportunities inside, leading King City in the win with 14 points on all two-point field goals. Early on, King City shot as if a good portion of the point total would come off of three pointers. The team finished the first quarter with three triples, but wouldn't see another three drop the rest of the game. However, the lack of threes didn't spell doom for the Wildkats.
King City was able to hold KC Lutheran to just 10 points in the first half and limit the Lady Knights to just two three pointers in the game.
Staley, Brylin Armfield and Wylie McKinnon were the only players to score in the double figures for the Wildkats. King City will move on to the semifinal round of the Class 1 District 15 tournament to face DeKalb on Thursday.
