After careful consideration on who would lead the Savannah Savage Volleyball team in 2024, a name has been selected after the Jan. 11 Savannah Board of Education meeting. The meeting saw the approval of the hire of former Northwest Missouri State volleyball standout and graduate assistant, Miranda Mizera.

During her collegiate career, Mizera was a three-time All-MIAA player for Northwest from 2013-2016. She accumulated more than 1,000 digs and 1,000 kills in her career. After playing for the Bearcats she served as a graduate assistant for the 2018 season.

The young coach has a history at the high school level. After her stint with the Bearcats, Mizera was head volleyball coach at Maryville High School in 2019 and 2020. During her tenure there, she led the Maryville volleyball program to two district titles and a State Championship in 2020.

The most recent position held by Mizera was the head volleyball coach at St. Joseph Central High School. Coach Mizera’s Central Indian team competed at the Class 5 level in the highly competitive Suburban League.

Last season, Savannah finished the year with an overall record of 25-5-5 and made the Class 3 state tournament before losing in three sets to Pleasant Hill in the quarterfinals.
