Lions enjoying superb start to the season

For a program that took several years to get back on the course, St. Joseph Christian boys golf has seen real individual and team success that spans from last year to this year.
For a short stretch leading up to the 2024 season, the Christian boys golf team was unable to compile the numbers necessary to compete as a team. The 2024 season saw Christian send three individuals to the Class 1 state tournament.
The top two finishers at the state tournament are back in the fold again in 2025, and so far, have picked up where they left off. The two golfers who just so happen to have the same first name, sophomore Levi Lindley and senior Levi Miller, have been atop the leaderboards in some of the best performances for Christian as a team this season.
During the Stanberry Invitational last month, in which the Lions took first place as a team, Lindley finished first on the leaderboard with Miller finishing just behind him in second place. Lindley will look to stack up with the top golfers, not only in Class 1, but in the city.
“You don't always take it for granted because there's plenty of guys that can come out and beat you no matter the age. So just great thing about the sport is that it doesn't matter the age. You can always go beat their guys,” Lindley said.
For the lone senior in the group, Miller wasn’t afforded four straight seasons of the sport, but has relished the chance to compete in his junior and senior years among his peers.
“Just getting out with a group of guys, being able to take three guys to state last year and then this year starting off strong with a tournament win and couple of high placings is a great opportunity for our school and for our golf team,” Miller said.
