Former MWSU golfer returns to PGA Tour winner circle

A former Missouri Western State University Griffon won for the first time on the PGA Tour in six years on Sunday.
Brice Garnett took home the hardware on the fourth hole of a sudden-death playoff at the Puerto Rico Open against Erik Barnes. Garnett and Barnes sat at 19 under par at the end of 72 holes of regulation.
Garnett’s first PGA Tour victory came in 2018 at the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship.
The win was big for the 40-year-old Gallatin, Missouri, native, who turned pro in 2006. He has earned an exemption on the PGA Tour for the rest of the 2024 season and the next two years, according to the PGA Tour website.
Garnett now sits at 51st in the FedEx Cup rankings and moves to 196th in the Official World Golf Ranking.
He also takes home $720,000 in winnings and earns a spot in the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Course.
Garnett will next tee it up at The Players Championship, played on the hallowed grounds of TPC Sawgrass in Florida. The purse for the tournament is $25,000,000.
