A man is charged with first-degree robbery after pointing a gun at a clerk and taking money from a cash register at a convenience store in the southwest part of Buchanan County.

Sheriff Bill Puett said the crime happened at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Stop and Go gas station in Winthrop, Missouri. A man entered the store, pulled out a handgun and demanded money from the cash register, he said. No one was injured in the robbery, Puett said.

After working on the investigation overnight along with the Atchison, Kansas Police Department, the investigation focused on a location in Leavenworth, Kansas, where the suspect was located. The Leavenworth Police Department and its Special Response Team took Ryan Beaudoin, 45, of Leavenworth into custody at about 10 a.m. on Friday, Puett said.

Investigators are conducting a search warrant at the Leavenworth location looking for evidence, and the investigation is ongoing. Puett said the case will be submitted to the Buchanan County Prosecutor’s Office for possible charges.

Puett expressed his thanks to the Atchison and Leavenworth police departments for their help in getting Beaudoin into custody quickly.
