See St. Joseph: Whiskey, wrestling and community service

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) -- St. Joseph will be lively over the weekend with wrestling matches, Renaissance celebrations and community service efforts. News-Press NOW's Kendra Simpson has the weekend's most exciting and impactful events in this week's edition of See St. Joseph.
Gather ye good folk and lovers of fine spirits! Come one, come all to ye Olde Fashioned Toasts and Smokes. Experience a one-of-a-kind whiskey and cigar festival. The day will consist of tasting whiskeys, sampling cigars, live entertainment, games, barbecue and more. This rowdy, medieval tavern will be filled with lively music, free whiskey samples and camaraderie for the ages. Proceeds will benefit the Bluffwoods Renaissance Festival, meaning every sip, puff and jest supports the magic that brings history to life. Toasts and Smokes goes from 3:30 to 11 p.m. Friday. March 28, at the Castle Bridge Event Center, 8403 U.S. 59. Tickets can be purchased online at simpletix.com.
This weekend, the St. Joseph Civic Arena will be filled with screaming fans, brutal take-downs and the most colorful costumes all in one ring. TNA Wrestling is coming to St. Joseph for iMPACT! There will be decades of wrestling legends in the ring, including The Hardy Boyz, The Rascals and Ash by Elegance. The fights will be taped for the company's flagship weekly TV show, iMPACT! Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m., both Friday, March 28, and Saturday, March 29, at the Civic Arena, 100 N. Fourth. Tickets can be purchased on TNA's website at tnawrestling.com.
St. Joseph offers its residents fun events and activities every weekend, so it's only fair to pay the town back with Beautify St. Joseph. Join the group with its season kick-off event around the Downtown area. They're going to pick up trash to make the area more beautiful as well as help the planet in the long run. The target area will be from Third to Ninth streets and from Faraon to Sylvanie, with a focus on alleyways. The group will be divided into six teams, each taking a different section of the area. The crews will meet at the concession building across the street from Coleman Hawkins Park at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 29. Trash bags, grabbers, gloves and safety vests will be provided.
