See St. Joseph: performances galore

Whether a St. Joseph resident is looking to dance with their favorite musical numbers or interact with a live elephant, St. Joseph has it all. News Press NOW's Kendra Simpson found the best weekend entertainment in this week's edition of See St. Joseph.
Cursed princesses, obscenely short kings, nervous gingerbread men, a lying puppet, an ogre and a donkey. What do all of these mythical creatures have in common? They’re coming to the Missouri Theatre stage this weekend in RRT’s production of Shrek the Musical.
Everyone’s favorite ogre is back on the hilarious stage spectacle based on the Oscar-winning smash hit film. Shrek the Musical is a Tony-award winning fairy tale adventure that will be sure to leave anyone laughing and dancing along. Follow the unlikely hero, his best friend, the wisecracking donkey and the princess who resists a rescue. The fairytale will be live on the stage 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Missouri Theatre. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at rrtstjoe.org.
After seeing the magical donkey and three little pigs, why not go check out performing elephants, horses and throw a clown or two in there as well. That’s right, this weekend is the 70th annual Moila Shrine Circus.
For seven decades, this circus has amazed St. Joseph residents with their amazing tricks and performances. A ring of fire, motorcycles in a globe and so much more await. The circus runs 7 p.m. Friday, 10:30 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 1 and 5 p.m. Sunday at the civic arena. Tickets can be purchased online at moila.org/circus.
We've seen the jesters, we've seen the little king, now it’s time to see the queens. Mokaska is hosting another drag show this weekend featuring St. Joseph's favorite drag performers.
Get those dollar bills and applause ready because, like always, this performance promises to slay and serve. Hosted by Clint Torris Bliss with co-host Reina Rose, Mokaska is going to be crawling with talent and excitement. The show begins 8 p.m. Saturday at Mokaska Coffee. The show has a $10 cover charge and is 18+ only.
There’s no reason to drive to Kansas City when there's this much entertainment right at home. Tune in to News-Press NOW every Thursday for more See St. Joseph.
