Many contestants of the annual Chili Cookoff have participated for several years prior and enjoyed showing off their numerous trophies.

It’s beginning to feel like spring, making it the perfect time to get out and explore St. Joseph. Here are some of this weekend’s hottest events to complement the warm weather.

For lovers of all things vintage or those who consider themselves vintage and want to relive the good old days, Time Out Event Center is hosting its first annual Antique and Vintage Show. How often do you get the chance to see and touch history? There will be items from the 1920s and older, as well as items from the 1950s through the 1990s available for purchase. All this while presenting the opportunity to connect with others who share an interest in preserving and cherishing relics. The Antique and Vintage Show goes from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 1, and Sunday, March 2, at the Time Out Event Center, 3414 S. 22nd St.

Or rather than reminisce, some would like to imagine a future of endless possibilities. If that’s the case, then check out the children’s book “The Adventures of Ella Bella.” The Story Collective will be hosting story time with Kansas City author Katie Marie as she reads her latest release, “The Adventures of Ella Bella.” Ella Bella is a spirited girl who embarks on adventures with the power of positive affirmations. The children’s book celebrates self-belief, dreaming big and always believing in the power of imagination. Story time begins 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at The Story Collective, 114 S. Seventh St.

For those looking to spice up their weekends, the United Cerebral Palsy of Northwest Missouri is hosting its 39th annual Chili Cook-Off. Chili cooks around the region gather every year to prove they have the hottest and tastiest chili of all. There’s going to be a silent auction, people’s choice awards and, of course, all the sampling your stomach can handle. The annual event raises money for the UCP of Northwest Missouri in their mission to support children and adults with disabilities. Doors open at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 2, the chili tasting begins at 2:30 p.m. and the awards ceremony starts at 4:30, and it’s all happening at the Civic Arena, 100 N. Fourth St.
