St. Joseph has quite the array of events and performances this weekend to keep the whole family entertained. Find out all about it in this week’s See St. Joseph.

The child advocacy group Voices of Courage has challenged St. Joseph to a night of trivia through the ages. Friday, March 1, will test your knowledge of sports, commercials, music, history, actors and more. The trivia will span the 60s through the present. Teams can consist of up to eight people, and the cost is $5 per head. Prizes and bragging rights will be given out to the first-place team. Hot dogs will be served at 6 p.m. but feel free to bring snacks for teams. Trivia kicks off at 7 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge, 2004 N. Belt Highway.

Robidoux Resident Theatre is debuting the “Spongebob Squarepants Musical” this weekend at the Missouri Theater, 717 Edmond St. Plunge into this stunning and dynamic show with original songs by Steven Tyler, Sara Bareilles, Cyndi Lauper, Panic at the Disco and many more. Curtains open at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 1, and Saturday, March 2, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 3.

Harrison Hartley will unveil the lives and stories of some St. Joseph characters from history in his presentation “Rare Birds: Fabulous Characters Who Called St. Joseph Home.” In his presentation, he’ll speak of the town’s founding fathers, including the “King of Pills,” a world expert of voodoo and more. Learn about them and more for free in Hartley’s presentation at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at the Robidoux Row Museum, 219 E Poulin St.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters of St. Joseph is hosting its 2024 empower auction with live music and entertainment as well as a live and silent auction. Besides helping out a good cause, this event encourages guests to attend with great live auction prizes such as his and hers retreat packages, an exclusive dining experience and the ultimate Chiefs fan package. Cocktail attire is encouraged. The Empower Auction begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at the Metropolitan, 107 S. Sixth St.

Presented by St. Joseph Beverage and Miller Lite, the 38th annual Chili Cook-Off is a major fundraiser for the local United Cerebral Palsy chapter with 100% of the proceeds staying in Northwest Missouri to benefit children and adults with special needs. More than 50 contestants will cook chili and enter their special recipes into the challenge. Judges will rate the samples on taste, palatability and appearance in a double-blind test. The public can vote for their favorite team for the People’s Choice Award. Doors open at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 3, at the Civic Arena, 100 N. Fourth St., with chili being distributed to the public at 2:30 p.m. and the winners announced later that afternoon. Tickets are only $3 for both kids and adults.
