Crews battle afternoon house fire

St. Joseph firefighters worked Monday afternoon to put out a fire at a home in the 1000 block of Ellsworth Avenue.
According to fire inspector Steve Henrichson, the fire began at approximately 3 p.m. Crews worked in the backyard area to put out the flames, which damaged the porch and backside of the house.
The American Red Cross was called to the scene for assistance. No injuries have been reported at this time.
The fire is still under investigation.
