News-Press NOW

HARRISON COUNTY, Mo. (News-Press NOW) -- Two boys are in the hospital with serious injuries following a crash late Sunday north of Bethany, Missouri.

The boys, a 12-year-old from Bethany and a 13-year-old from Ridgeway, Missouri, were passengers in a car driven by a 19-year-old Bethany man. According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the crash happened at about 11:30 p.m. as the car was traveling east on Route Y and the driver lost control on a small curve, causing the vehicle to go off the road and down a steep embankment near 295th Street.

The car struck an embankment and several trees before stopping, the report said.

Both boys were taken by helicopter to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. Neither they nor the driver were wearing seat belts, the patrol report said.
