A 43-year-old woman sustained serious injuries following a crash Friday afternoon in Mercer County, 6 miles southeast of Princeton, Missouri.

Rachel L. Franklin, 43, of Princeton, Missouri, was westbound on Missouri Route E in a 2010 Chevrolet HHR around 3:55 p.m. when she crossed the center line into the eastbound lane.

Eldo E. Eaglen, 27, of Milan, Missouri, who was driving east on Route E in a 2023 GMC 3500, attempted to avoid Franklin but the passenger side of both vehicles collided, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The two vehicles traveled off the roadway after impact, Franklin’s vehicle then caught on fire after coming to rest.

Franklin was taken to Saint Luke’s of Kansas City by LifeFlight Eagle for serious injuries.

Franklin was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, Eaglen was wearing one, according to the report.
