A man avoided injuries after a rollover crash near 11th and Messanie streets Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened at approximately 3:15 p.m. when a driver lost control of his sedan while driving down 12th Street and his brakes went out, according to St. Joseph police officer Jeremy Ellis.

The driver steered his vehicle into an area of grass to avoid rolling downhill, causing his vehicle to turn over. Firefighters were called to the scene to extricate the driver.
