One man in custody after multiple crashes

St. Joseph, Mo. (News-Press NOW) — One driver was taken into custody after a hit-and-run crash Wednesday evening.

An initial call came in around 6:30 p.m. for a two-vehicle collision at Noyes Boulevard and Messanie Street that left one person with minor injuries. One driver fled the scene after the crash, according to the St. Joseph Police Department.

There was no pursuit of the hit-and-run driver, police told to News-Press NOW.

Another crash was later reported around 7:30 p.m. at North 22nd Street and Newport Road, where a vehicle — matching the same description as the fleeing one from the previous crash — hit a parked car and a tree.

The man is under investigation, according to SJPD.
