ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) — First responders worked the scene of a crash Monday evening at the intersection of South Belt Highway and Mitchell Avenue.

Two people were transported to the hospital by ambulance, according to Officer Josiah Lowrey with the St. Joseph Police Department.

The crash involved two vehicles traveling south and one traveling north on the Belt Highway. One of the vehicles going southbound didn't see the light change and rear-ended another vehicle, leading to the collision, according to an officer at the scene.

Traffic at the intersection was temporarily rerouted as crews cleared the scene.
