Hit-and-run snarls traffic near I-29 on-ramp in St. Joseph

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) — St. Joseph Police are gathering information after a reported hit-and-run on Interstate 29 disrupted traffic for more than an hour this morning.
The crash occurred around 10:21 a.m. after a red vehicle traveling north reportedly tried to merge into the right lane near the on-ramp from South 169 Highway to I-29, crashing into the vehicle and pushing it into the guardrail.
The red vehicle fled the scene after the crash and has not been located.
Other than the driver who was hit, there were no other independent witnesses to verify how the crash occurred.
It is unknown at this time if there were any injuries and if so how severe they might be. News-Press NOW has reached out for additional comments and will update the story when they become available.
The crash resulted in the on-ramp to I-29 being shut down for more than an hour between 10:21 a.m. and 11:41 a.m.
Multiple vehicles and tractor trailers attempting to merge on to I-29 were forced to a standstill on the on-ramp, with police re-directing vehicles southbound in order to clear it.
