ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) — A St. Joseph man is dead after police say he was hit by a car late Wednesday night while walking near the North Belt Highway.

According to Sgt. James Tonn with the St. Joseph Police Department, a southbound vehicle hit the pedestrian, 25-year-old Richard D. Henry, around 10:24 p.m. while he was walking westbound across the street from the area of Green Hills Super Market towards Subway.

Henry was pronounced dead following the accident and relatives have been notified.

SJPD confirmed the incident is under investigation and the driver is cooperating with authorities.
