A damaged red Dodge Dakota pickup sits in the middle of North 26th Street after being involved in a head-on crash on Friday. The male driver of the truck was transported to the hospital with minor shoulder and neck pain.

A two-vehicle crash on North 26th Street in St. Joseph resulted in one driver being transported to the hospital with minor injuries on Friday morning.

The head-on crash occurred after a red Dodge pickup truck collided with a white Jeep Grand Cherokee around 11:40 a.m. by North 26th Street and State streets, near the St. Joseph School District Administrative offices.

The southbound truck was reportedly driving too far over on the street prior to the crash according to St. Joseph Police Department Sgt. Brian McClintick.

According to police, the truck driver claimed he was blinded by the sun and didn't see the white SUV heading north.

The truck driver was transported to Mosaic Life Care with minor injuries while the driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee was unharmed.

Snow and ice on the side of the streets may have played a factor in the crash as well, according to police.

Due to the crash, the area was blocked off for roughly 45 minutes before both vehicles were towed and the scene was cleared.
