A Bethany woman is dead, and four people are in the hospital after a DeKalb County crash Thursday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred around 3:45 at the intersection of Missouri Routes 6 and 31, five miles north of Clarksdale.

An 18-year-old Bethany man driving three passengers from the same town in an SUV did not stop at the intersection stop sign and hit a pickup truck driven by a 31-year-old Clarksdale man.

A 37-year-old woman riding in the SUV was pronounced dead by the DeKalb County Coroner just after 4:30.

The SUV driver suffered serious injuries, as did a 40-year-old man and 15-year-old girl riding with him.

The Clarksdale driver suffered serious injuries as well.

EMS took the men to Mosaic in St. Joseph and the teenage girl to Children’s Mercy.

According to the crash report, only the Bethany driver and his 40-year-old passenger had seatbelts equipped.
