Highway patrol reports crash statistics from Thanksgiving holiday

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports four people were killed on Missouri roads during the Thanksgiving holiday.

A preliminary report of data from the counting period, which began at 6 p.m. on Nov. 27 and continued through 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 1, shows 362 traffic crashes, 120 injuries, four fatalities and 106 driving while intoxicated arrests. The fatalities happened in Lincoln, Barry, Cole and Oregon counties.

Last year’s Thanksgiving holiday statistics included nine fatalities, 483 injuries, 1,342 traffic crashes and 103 DWI arrests.

Patrol officials said that there were no boating crashes, fatalities or boating while intoxicated arrests for this year’s Thanksgiving holiday counting period.
