The Youth Alliance of St. Joseph is collaborating with Missouri American Water to host a prescription drug take-back event next Saturday.

On Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., people can safely dispose of prescription drugs in a spot set up in the East Hills Shopping Center parking lot.

The purpose of the event is to both reduce the risk of drug abuse in the community and to keep water supplies clean.

Prescription and over-the-counter tablets and capsules, as well as unopened liquids, will be accepted.

Illicit substances are not included in this event.
