Atchison, Kansas, police are confirming the death of a pre-teen boy who went missing in the city Monday.

Police Chief Mike Wilson said the boy’s body was found in a remote area on the southern edge of the city at about 9 a.m. Tuesday following an overnight search.

The boy left his home on Monday afternoon and family members assumed he was taking a walk, which he did often. When he did not return after several hours, they contacted police, Wilson said.

Police have not released the boy’s name or age. Wilson said although the case remains under investigation, foul play is not suspected.
