The Platte County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim of a shooting Wednesday morning outside of a home in Dearborn, Missouri.

Joshua C. Hinderliter, 37, of Dearborn, was killed after he was reportedly acting erratically outside of a residence.

The homeowner told law enforcement a partially clothed man was demonstrating “suspicious” behavior outside the home, praying to a horse and attacking a dog.

Hinderliter was shot and killed by the homeowner after he forcibly attempted to enter the residence.

The shooting resulted in the North Platte School District being placed on lockdown for roughly an hour.

The incident remains under investigation by the Platte County Sheriff’s Office.
