As online threats continue to raise concerns for schools across Missouri and the country, a school district in Cameron, Missouri, was the latest to deal with worrisome social media posts.

Law enforcement increased its presence on campuses of the Cameron R-1 School District after possible threats shared on TikTok were circulating.

The Cameron district said on its website that it was notified around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday of a possible threat involving Cameron schools and other area districts. Cameron schools went into a “controlled movement plan” as a precaution.

The district posted an update that law enforcement determined the threat came from out of the area, and after investigation, it was deemed a non-threat.

Cameron district officials are reminding anyone who sees threats to contact building administration or law enforcement.

This comes after the St. Joseph School District encouraged students to avoid re-sharing any possible threats online, even to raise awareness, as they would be subject to investigation. St. Joseph police do not believe any posts Tuesday involved St. Joseph schools, but Kansas City schools and schools around the state have been dealing with concerning posts and taking precautions.
