The St. Joseph police department has been closely working with partnering agencies to monitor threats made to several area schools.

According to a press release from the St. Joseph police department Monday, a social media character has made threats to several area schools.

At this time, none of the threats are applicable to any facility, student, or staff member within the St. Joseph School District, police confirmed.

A quote from the press release stated:

“Specific references to Central High School were determined to involve a school of the same name not within our jurisdiction. Several suspects have been identified in other jurisdictions and those agencies are seeking criminal prosecution.”

The police department is encouraging staff and students to always be alert for any suspicious activity and if someone sees or hears something, it should be reported to administrators and School Resource Officers.
