A resurfacing project that starts Monday will slow drivers on U.S. Route 59 in Northwest Missouri.
Herzog Contracting Corp., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, will resurface a portion of Route 59 from the intersection of Missouri Route 46 near Fairfax in Atchison County to the intersection of Holt County Route O near Oregon beginning on Sept. 9. Crews will then resurface and widen the shoulders of Route 59 from Holt County Route O to Interstate 29.
The road will be down to one lane with crews guiding motorists through the work zone from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. A 10-foot width restriction will be in place.
Both sections are planned to be resurfaced by November 2024.
Route 59 from the Iowa state line to Missouri Route 136 near Tarkio in Atchison County and U.S. Route 159 from Little Tarkio Creek to I-29 near Mound City are planned to be resurfaced in 2025.
