Drivers who use Interstate 229 Downtown will need to look for an alternate for a week next month.

A section of the road will be closed beginning at 6:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, for the double-decker bridge on I-229 to have its biannual inspection. The bridge and all ramps between U.S. Route 36 and Highland Avenue will not be accessible during the inspection and are scheduled to reopen by 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13.

Drivers are advised to use U.S. Route 36 and Interstate 29 during that week.

Engineers with the Missouri Department of Transportation will inspect the bridge, maintenance crews will complete general work and electricians will make lighting repairs while the section of I-229 is closed.

All work is weather-permitting.
