The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office confirmed at Children’s Mercy Hospital, a 4-year-old boy from Wathena, Kansas, died after drowning at a Fourth of July party in Dekalb, Missouri.

The sheriff’s office received a call about a boy possibly drowning in a swimming pool at 7:51 p.m. last Thursday, according to Sheriff Bill Puett.

Puett said the boy’s father and grandfather performed CPR until deputies arrived and took over. The family was attending a party around Southwest 36th Road, but they did not live at the residence.
