Two men riding in a trash truck were flown to hospitals Wednesday afternoon following a one-vehicle accident in Grundy County.

Driver Preston Ramsey, 71, of Trenton, Missouri, and passenger Caleb Hudson, 34, of Spickard, were seriously injured in the accident, which happened at about 2:10 p.m. on Route CC about two miles west of Brimson. Ramsey didn’t stop at a stop sign, crossed Missouri 146 and went off the south side of the intersection, causing the truck to overturn and come to a rest on its side, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

Neither man was wearing a seat belt, the patrol report said. Hudson was taken by helicopter to St. Luke’s in Kansas City and Ramsey was flown to Truman Medical Center.
