Two people suffered injuries when their car crashed while the driver was fleeing from emergency vehicles Friday afternoon in Clinton County.

Jason Pressley, 46, of Kansas City, Missouri, was driving south in the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 at about 4 p.m. on Jan. 5 when he exited into the Holt rest area, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report. His car struck the towed unit of a tractor-trailer then continued south in the rest area and went down an embankment, hitting several trees.

Pressley, who was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report, suffered serious injuries. His passenger, Kerstyn Rust, 24, of Kansas City, also wasn’t wearing a seat belt and received moderate injuries. Both were taken to North Kansas City Hospital.
