Beat them at their own game

Buckle up, buttercup, and hang on:

In the 60’s, I understand that the cell phones back then had enough power to send the lunar spacecraft to the moon. I must admit that is way over my understanding!

Have you noticed that, when boarding a flight, that if the flight door is open, those two pilots are throwing switches after switch from their check list. A set progression — a wall of flashing lights and buttons— a control center.

Welcome to the 2020’s, and we now have cars that have many new features. And you do not even need to do a check list, just push a button! How? Through the insertion of “circuit boards” running almost everything on the vehicle. I think they might have an option that will wipe your nose.

Out the window is gone grabbing the steering wheel at 10 and 2. These now have hands-free steering — right, I want to go down the highway at 70 mph, “look, no hands.” This is programed to stop you if another car is going too slow in your lane. Then you have lane assist, which lets you know if you crossed into the next lane or somebody else is trying it.

The power steering, crosswalk warning, auto braking, park it for you — either on the street or in your home garage. Man, if you cannot park it, you should not be driving it! Side mirrors that warn you a car is coming up on you, back-up camera — this one gets me. I know you have seen the way they get square between the line backing in — bumper pool.

Why am I afraid off a circuit board running my car? We were on a trip driving through the Blue Ridge Mountains a couple years ago, no problems, but right after we got home — no power steering. An $880+ circuit board and labor fixed that. A lumberjack could not have steered that car.

“What happened to the power steering pump?”

“Heh, old man, it’s gone.”

Gee, thanks.

I know all the manufacturers could care less about a non-techie trying to drive these new cars, but at my age I think I will beat them at their own game.

Slap in the face

I apologize to all Republicans for the slap in the face you just endured by your elected Republicans that you put in office. After scaring republican voters for over 30 years about the bad, bad immigrants and people of color, the senate passed an immigration and foreign aid bill with a 70 to 29 vote. Finally, you can feel safe again. You haven’t felt safe for 30 years now.

The slap heard across America. Trutin. House Republicans won’t bring it to a vote. Why? It’s the only thing that scares their voters. The bill has everything Republicans wanted. The Senate passed it, the President said he would sign it into law. When it would pass, the Republicans would not have anything to scare their base with for elections.

Did you hear the slap? I know you felt the slap. Now, what are you going to do about it in November?

One more thing. This is not funny in any way. If you don’t want your sons, daughters, grandsons and granddaughters to have to fight in a war because Republicans won’t pass an aid package to a foreign country defending themselves against Putin’s communistic ways, you better vote for politicians that will. Start thinking.

Think for yourself

In 2024, the Democratic Party is going to run on abortion! The women have a right to their bodies.

What about the young women who are forced to compete athletically against biological males? Where are those women’s rights?

You can’t pick and choose which rights are protected for women. They all are. Title IX gave that power to women. Now, women’s groups have snubbed Title IX in the interest of abortion rights.

It is purely political! Plain and simple. Democrats are brainwashing young women to think they care about them. Think for yourself and look at all options.
