Are Buchanan County seniors ever going to get a break on property taxes? It’s happening everywhere else. Why not here?

Looking for

a solution

We didn’t know what to do. Today, like many days, between 9:18 and 10:20, we received 23 calls from all different areas that say they want to update our Medicare card, which we know is a scam. We’ve talked to our insurance person. But these people, they give different addresses each time they call. We have Missouri No-Call, but it hasn’t helped. We just don’t know how to get these calls stopped. We can’t leave the phone off the hook because we have a family member who’s ill, and we have to have a home phone, and we just didn’t know if there was some solution.

Spend the money where it belongs

It sure looks like the city and the county and the state have got all these millions and millions of dollars for Krug Park. I vote we take that money away from Krug Park and put it on Lake Contrary. It’s crazy. Lake Contrary was once a national draw for boating, swimming, they had hotels, they had a ballroom and now we’ve just let it go completely. That’s just not right. Let’s spend the money where it belongs.

Some truth to the cartoon

The political cartoon in Wednesday’s News-Press sent a chill up my spine. The man speaking to the kids told some truth. Donald Trump did try to overturn a fair election to remain in power and has joined Putin’s effort to destroy NATO.

Open mouth, insert foot

I’ve been watching the news lately. I see the Kamala Harris as the one that appears to be carrying the Democratic banner. In all the news media, she’s out beating the brush and trying to pick up a vote here and a vote there. I don’t know where Joe’s at. Either it’s before he gets up in the morning or after he goes to bed in the evening or late afternoon. Or maybe they’re just afraid that he won’t be able to carry the message verbally, that he’ll open his mouth and insert foot.
