McGettigan, Sachiko 1931-2025 Kansas City, Mo.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Sachiko “Sally” McGettigan, 94, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, March 15, 2025. She was born on March 7, 1931, in Miyoshi, Japan. She married Herbert McGettigan in 1954 and lived most of her life in St. Joseph.

She worked at the H.D. Lee Company as a seamstress and retired in 1995. She owned her own small business, S Bargain Shop. Her favorite pastimes included crafting, sewing, and visiting casinos. Gardening held a special place in her heart, especially her beautiful peonies.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two brothers.

Survivors include son, Jim McGettigan; daughters, Susan Puett and Terri McGettigan; grandchildren, Jake McGettigan (Colleen) and Robin Barber (Wally); and two great-grandchildren.

A private Celebration of Life will be held in honor of our beloved mother and grandmother, whose memory will always live on in our hearts. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
