Johnson Sr., Norman W. 1954-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Norman Woodrow Johnson Sr. (Woody), of St. Joseph, has passed away at home on Feb. 14, 2025. He was 70 years old. Born June 4, 1954, to Catherine and Roy Johnson.
A U.S. Marine, a local business owner, devoted son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He never stopped loving and grieving his former late wife JoAnn.
He was observed by those who loved him as being the toughest man in America. His feats of strength and constitution are uncountable, the amazing things he did with what he had will continue to be an inspiration. A man who taught his children how to survive, built what he needed with his own two hands, and had a sharp mind for how things worked.
Survivors include five children, Woody Johnson, Jr., of Savannah, Missouri, Bridget (Dallen) Whitten of Savannah, Katie Pike of Cosby, Missouri, Bethany (Steve) Johnson of Evanston, Illinois, and Kristian “Blake” Johnson of Savannah; three sisters, and three brothers.
His sense of humor and his loving arms will be missed. He never passed up a chance to tell you that he loved you, because he did. His pain is over and he can rest now. His family asks that you be sure to tell those you love that you love them, as a time will come when you cannot.
Mr. Johnson has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home.
A celebration of Woody’s life will be scheduled in warmer weather for family and friends.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Online obituary and condolences at www.ruppfuneral.com As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
