Frances M. Jeffers, 70, St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025. She was born Jan. 24, 1955, in St. Joseph, to Morris and Esther (Johnson) Ashlock.

Frances married James Jeffers on June 12, 1981. He survives of the home.

She was a very crafty, gifted person who loved ceramics, Tupperware, sewing, and gardening. Frances also loved to read – she read everything she could get her hands on.

Frances loved to go on trips with James. She enjoyed going to Florida, going to the beach and collecting shells, as well as traveling with James on trips the year he was potentate.

Thrift stores always caught her attention, and it was hard to drive past one without her asking to stop. She also loved to collect baskets and Quaker Oats memorabilia.

Frances also found joy and comfort in trips to the farm where she grew up.

She had worked in the ER at Sisters Hospital. After having her daughters, she was a stay-at-home mom for many years. Later, she worked in Sterile Processing at Heartland Health and as an access representative for Dr. Kempton’s office.

Most of all, Frances loved her girls. She was a volunteer at Pickett School, PTA Treasurer, and Girl Scout Leader. She was a mother figure to many. She dearly loved spending time with her grandchildren, lighting up when seeing them.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; and brothers, Rex Ashlock and Pete Gardner.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, James; daughters, Katie Miron (Mark) and Melissa Workman (Jason); grandchildren, Peyton and Conor Workman; sister, Julia Bridges (Dale); and numerous other extended family members and friends.
