Billy Lee Culver (William) was born Oct. 2, 1930, in St. Joseph. He passed away at Wexford Place Assisted Living on August 4, 2024. He was 93 years old.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Hal Culver; mother, Hattie Culver; and sister, Doris Keller.

Bill was married to Bonnie Hair Culver for 37 years. He had five children: Matthew (Ying) Culver, of Redding, California, Beth (Jeff) McCauley, of Overland Park, Kansas, Terri (Steve) Henion, of North Kansas City, Missouri, Tim (Kim) Culver, of Napoleon, Missouri; and Christy (Denver) Cassels, of Denham Springs, Louisiana; two stepsons, Chuck (Lynette) Morse, of Olathe, Kansas, and James (Leslie) Morse, of Overland Park. Bill had 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Bill was a patriot and cherished his time spent in the military. He served his country by enlisting in the US Air Force at age 18 and spent six years in various locations. He completed Flight Training in Texas and was assigned to Strategic Air Command. He flew as a crew member on a B-29 Bomber Aircraft during the Korean War.

In 1993, Bill retired from the Allied-Signal Aerospace Corp. where he worked as an Environmental Test Engineer.

Bill had been a Mason and was a member of Rowley 204 Lodge of Dearborn, Missouri. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite and Moila Shrine Temple in St. Joseph.

Bill attended a Baptist church in Maryland as a young soldier and continued in Southern Baptist churches thereafter. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Joseph.

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1 p.m. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
