Perkins, Vernon D. 1932-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Vernon “Vern” Dale Perkins, 92, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025, at his home. He was born July 24, 1932, in St. Joseph, son of the late Ethel and Oscar Perkins.
Vern attended Benton High School, and joined the United States Air Force at the age of 17, then serving in the Missouri Air National Guard. He married Kaye Paschke on July 24,1956, and they had two children, the late Linda Perkins, and son, Jerry Perkins, St. Joseph.
He began selling health insurance in 1959, and was proud of the fact that he was working into his late 80’s. He was the owner operator of Perkins Insurance. Vern loved traveling, was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan, and he also loved horse racing, and owned several race horses. He lived a great life and did everything wanted. He was a member of the King Hill Christian Church.
Vern was preceded in death by wife, Norene “Kaye” Perkins; daughter, Linda Perkins; his parents; a brother, Raymond Peck; and two sisters, Dorothy E. Richey and Beverly Newman.
Survivors include: son, Jerry Perkins, of St. Joseph; and a nephew, Gary Richey; several cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as many friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services, 10 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the King Hill Christian Church, Pastor Rich Piper officiating. The Interment will be at the Ashland Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the Mosaic Hospice.
