Reed, Judith K. 1942-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Judith Kay Reed, 82, St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025. She was born Oct. 16, 1942, in St. Joseph, to Homer and Opal (Bear) Root.
A proud graduate of Lafayette High School, Judy cherished her membership in the Shamrock Sisters.
Judith married Robert “Bob” R. Reed on Aug. 27, 1960. They shared 60 years together before he preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 2021.
She was a cake decorator for many years, creating lasting memories with elaborate cakes for her girls’ birthdays and special occasions, as well as wedding cakes for family and friends, and was a great seamstress.
Judy loved the K.C. Chiefs, her cat Joy, travel with her late husband, and on her 80th birthday she traveled with her children to the ocean.
Judy made every effort to put her best look forward. She loved to shop and was consistently well put together, even in the hospital. More importantly, everyone loved Judy. She was the nicest, kindest person, a beautiful lady inside and out.
She served the Lord as a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and then First Presbyterian Church. She also lent her talents to the St. Joseph Community Chorus.
Judy and Bob are now dancing together with their beloved Lord and Savior.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents; and brother, Jim Root.
Survivors include her daughters, Jeanetta Milner (Brad), Jayna Fitch (Dennis), and Kari Turner (Del); grandchildren, Alicia Higgins (Dylan), Breanna Richey (Andres Santillana), Kalen Turner (Bre), Landon Turner (Breanna), Garrett Turner, Alayna Turner, and Jaime Tabeek (Kyle); great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Kadence, Killian, Kasslyn and Kalista Turner; Krew and Jaxon Turner, and Kennedy and Logan Tabeek, Lea Higgins, and Cole Fitch; sisters, Donna Moorman (Chuck), and Marletta Idlet; other extended family and friends.
