Lillie Mae Cook, 75, St. Joseph, passed away Friday, April 4, 2025. She was born March 13, 1950, to the late Raymond and Lucille (Garner) Gelvin, in St. Joseph.

Lillie was a graduate of Benton High School and carried with her the sense of community fostered there throughout her entire life.

In 1988 she embarked on a business venture as a partner in the Dr. Vinyl franchise, in Scottsdale, Arizona, alongside her lifelong friends, Wanda and Leroy Pike. Later she co-founded Paws Pet Bakery with close friend Mary Wilegus.

She adored traveling, especially to her favorite retreat, Disney World. Lillie’s keen eye for uniqueness led to her successful involvement with the Jesse James Antique Mall, a place that also introduced her to Mike Ceglenski. Together, they shared a beautiful and caring relationship, beginning in 2018.

Her dedication extended into her spiritual life, where she was an engaged member of Grace Calvary Chapel. A philanthropic heart, she was a strong supporter of Friends of the Shelter, reflecting her deep love for animals, especially her devoted canine companion, Bella Sera.

Survivors include her sisters, Linda Newberry, Tracie Webb (Chris) and Kathy Aplin (Jimmy); nieces, Tanya Brower Damon, Leslie Crum (Loren); and cousin, Gary Hart (Joanne).

Farewell Services 1 p.m. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Friends of the Animal Shelter of St. Joseph.
