Wells, L. Kaye 1951-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Linda “Kaye” Wells, 73, St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2025. She was born Dec. 16, 1951, in Chillicothe, Missouri, to Max Hagerty and Verietta Faye (Potter) O’Connell.

Kaye married Stephen Wells on April 8, 1972. He survives of the home.

She was a member of Hope United Church of Christ, Cosby Missouri.

Kaye enjoyed mowing, fishing, crocheting, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family, with plenty of laughter around.

With her very caring heart, she was a mother and best friend to her daughter and the best grandma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Stephen Paul Wells; and brother, Edwin Dale Hagerty.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Stephen; daughter, Lacy Shipley (Troy); and grandchildren, Mason and Malie Kaye Shipley; extended family and friends.

Farewell Services 1 p.m. Saturday, April 5, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Chillicothe. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests all do a random act of kindness for others in Kaye’s honor.
