Lyon, Verna L. 1967-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Verna Leona Lyon, aged 58, of St. Joseph, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025, in St. Joseph. She was born on Feb. 17, 1967, in St. Joseph, to the late Mary and George Daniels. Verna was a graduate of Lafayette High School and Missouri Western State University, where she earned a degree in Journalism. She dedicated her life to being a homemaker and had a passion for writing, reading, and collecting dolls.

Verna was preceded in death by her daughter, Stevie Marlene Lyon; her parents, Mary Roberta and George Franklin Daniels; her brothers, Mike and David Daniels; her sister, Kathy Edwards; her former husband, Rick Lyon; and several other family members, including two nephews and three great- nephews.

She is survived by her brother, Steve (Cheryl) Daniels, of St. Joseph, and several nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and a public live stream will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the Rupp Funeral Home, with Chaplain Floyd Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
