Beers, Russell L. 1934-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Russell Leroy Beers, 90, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025, at his home. He was born Dec. 31, 1934, in Stewartsville, Missouri, son of Lorene and Norville “Lee” Beers.

Russell graduated from Missouri School for the Deaf in 1955. On June 27, 1970, he married Christina Vaughn, in St. Joseph. Russell was a loving husband father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was the Co-Pastor and Founder of Signs of Love Church for the Deaf and served as Associate Pastor, alongside his wife Chris, at New Life Cathedral, in St. Joseph. Russell also worked as a Painting Contractor for many years. His favorite times were spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, working in his yard or sitting on his glider. He also enjoyed boating and swimming and vacationing in Branson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Chantelle Beers; and brother, Glenn Beers.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Christina Beers, of the home; sons, Brent (Jackie) Beers and Jeremy Beers, both of St. Joseph; sister, Judy Wiggington, of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Lane (Shaylee), Tyler (Chyann), Tayler (Tyler David), Hayley and Piper; great-grandchildren, Leia, Mason, Ryker, Beau and Bennett.

Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Rupp Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday. The Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the Alzheimer’s Association or American Cancer Society.
