SAVANNAH, Mo. – John Thomas Withrow, 75, Savannah, Missouri, passed away Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, at the Cameron Veterans Home, Cameron, Missouri. John was born on July 20, 1949, in Atchison, Kansas, to the late William Isaac and Geneva Rose (Wyatt) Withrow. He was a graduate of Platte City High School.

Mr. Withrow proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

John worked as a truck driver for Rockwell, CRST and Crete Carrier for over 35 years, retiring in 2007.

John married Patsy Huddleston on Nov. 11, 1972. They celebrated 52 years of marriage. She survives him of the home.

John loved his family dearly and had a special attachment to his basset hound, Wendy. He was affiliated with the Family Worship Center in Country Club Village. John loved fishing and trucking.

Additional survivors include his son, Brian Short; daughter, Terri Swartz (Javan); sister, Sharon Withrow; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Nigro.

Funeral Service 11 a.m. Thursday, March 6, at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel, 307 S. 6th St. Savannah, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment Savannah Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Animal Shelter. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
