Nancy Rullman, 79, of St. Joseph, passed away on Feb. 20, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Born on Nov. 3, 1945, in St. Joseph, to Ed and Ella Roberts, Nancy was a woman of warmth and resilience. She dedicated over 30 years of her career to Family Guidance Center, where her compassion and commitment made a lasting impact. Even up to the time of her passing, she continued to work, demonstrating her strong spirit and dedication to helping others.

Nancy shared a beautiful life with her late husband, Richard Rullman, building a family rooted in love and togetherness. She was the devoted mother of Tonya Butler (Dusty), Tracy Sowell, Brad Rullman (Nichole), and Stephanie Butler. She adored her grandchildren, Ryan (Nicole), Dakota, Andi (Travis), Tyler, Tanner, Zack (Chelsea), and Mac (Rachel), and took immense pride in her role as a great-grandmother to Gannon, Brensley, Bryson, Paiten, Parker, Bre, Geo, Kohen, Knox, Nash, Finn, and Tate. Nancy also leaves behind a brother, Larry Kerns; sister, Kathy Walker; a beloved niece, Lanie Fuehrer; and beloved nephews, Logan Walker and Lance Walker.

Nancy found joy in family gatherings, attending her grandkids’ sporting events, and vacationing-especially in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, a place that always held a special spot in her heart. She had a gift for bringing people together, whether through her presence at a game, a trip filled with adventure, or the simple joy of a home-cooked meal. Her homemade tenderloins were legendary, a true staple of comfort and love in the Rullman household.

Her love extended to her cherished dogs, Ollie and Stewart, who were her constant companions and provided endless joy.

Nancy’s warmth, strength and unwavering support for those she loved will forever be remembered. She leaves behind a family that will carry on her traditions, her kindness, and the deep love she gave so freely.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Rullman; her parents; her son, Billy Sowell; and her infant daughter, Tina Sowell.

A Rosary Prayer Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Heaton-Bowman Smith Sidenfaden, followed by visitation from 6 to 8 p.m.

Farewell Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday Feb. 27, at Heaton-Bowman Smith Sidenfaden. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will gather with friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Eagles Lodge for dinner. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to The American Kidney Foundation.
