Danny H. Embrey of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Feb. 13, 2025 at the age of 87. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1937.

Danny proudly served his country in the United States Navy, spending the majority of his service aboard The Destroyer Leader. After his time in the military, he worked in restoration, helping to preserve many historic buildings throughout Kansas City, St. Joseph, and other parts of Missouri. He was known for his impeccable work ethic, always taking pride in a job well done.

He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel (Jr.) H. Embrey; his son, Roy (Butch) E. Embrey; his stepdaughter, Raea J. McDowell; his daughter-in-law, Penny L. Embrey; and his former wife, Joyce Embrey.

He is survived by his son, Mark E. Embrey; his daughter, Antonia (Toni) Embrey; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn E. Embrey, Kyle D. Embrey, Roy (Butchie) E. Embrey Jr., and Chance Embrey-Farquhar; his stepchildren, Joy Boller, Teresa Crossfield, and Russell Wallace; numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and his wife, Michele Embrey.

Danny will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on through his family, and the many buildings that stand as a testament to his life’s work.

Danny has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. For those who wish, flowers or donations to the Dwight D. Eisenhower Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in his honor are welcome.
