James “Jim” McIntosh, 80, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025. He was born April 7, 1944, in St. Joseph, to Dorothy (Hagele) and Jesse “Buddy” McIntosh.

He married Betty Lynn Parsons in 1964. He graduated from Benton High School in 1962. Jim was drafted in the Army and served from 1967-1969. During that time he was sent to Vietnam with the 11th Army Calvary Regiment 1967-1968. He was at the tet offensive and on the front line the entire year. He received a Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Metal and Pistol Rifle Expert Badge. Jim worked at five major packing houses in St. Joseph, Silgan Containers, City of St. Joseph Street Department, and Fairview Golf Course. Jim loved the outdoors, arrowhead hunting, fishing, trapshooting and auctions. He especially loved his family.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger (Sandy) McIntosh; and sister, Jean (Dick) Lewin.

Survivors include wife, Betty Lynn; sons, John McIntosh, of St. Joseph, Tim (Linda Taylor) McIntosh, of Omaha, Nebraska; granddaughter, Vinika (Brent Champion) McIntosh of Shawnee, Kansas; grandson, Rylen McIntosh, of Omaha; brothers, Gary (Ernie) McIntosh, of St. Joseph, John (Mary Pat) McIntosh, of Kansas City, Missouri, Bill McIntosh, of Parkville, Missouri; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Leo Hank.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Wyatt Park Christian Church. Funeral services and public live stream 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025, at the Wyatt Park Christian Church. The Interment will be at the Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of their choice.
