Holmes III, Samuel 1978-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Samuel Holmes III, 47, of St Joseph, passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025. He was born Jan. 7, 1978, in St. Joseph.

Sam was a free and kind soul, loved being outdoors and riding his Harley. He especially loved his family, especially his grandson and nieces and nephews. He had a gift being able to brighten anyone’s day.

Sam was preceded in death by his uncle, Archie Tracy.

Survivors include his mother, Lyda Hamilton, of St. Joseph; father Steven Nichols; wife, Angela Sauter-Holmes; and their children, Stephen, John and Jessica Sauter, sisters, Samantha Deaton, of Avenue City, Missouri; sister, Bobbie (Steven) Rollett, of St Joseph, and Desari Coffman, of St. Joseph; grandson, Kamden Sauter; aunt, Cindy Tracy; several nieces, nephew, aunts and uncles.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Mr. Holmes will be cremated following services. Memorials are requested to the Samuel Holmes Memorial Fund, c/o Rupp Funeral Home.
