Raines, Delores 1931-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Delores Jean Raines, 93, St. Joseph, passed away Monday, Jan. 27, 2025. She was born on Aug. 7, 1931, to James and Mary (Vaughn) McMillian, in St. Joseph.

Delores charted a successful career, managing the Credit Card department for JC Penney for several years, where she was respected by her colleagues for her acumen and integrity.

A devoted member of Linden Baptist Church, Delores lived her faith through action and grace. She found solace in the care of her vibrant flower and vegetable gardens. Traveling was one of her many passions and she enjoyed the opportunity to explore new horizons. Delores loved spending time with her loved ones through holiday gatherings and family reunions, especially cherishing moments spent down at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Delores’ memory will be treasured and kept alive by her beloved son, Eric Raines; her brother, Jimmie McMillian; her sister, Joyce Howards; and a close-knit tapestry of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Her journey forward follows the path carved by her late husband, Clarence Raines; her parents; and her brothers, Bobby and Larry McMillian.

Farewell Services 3 p.m. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
